Commission Me

What is Commissioning a New Piece?

Commissioning a new piece of music is paying a composer to write music for a specific performer, ensemble, event, occasion, and/or purpose.

Why Commission a New Piece?

  •  Have a piece crafted to the specific needs of your ensemble.
  •  Be a patron of new music and the arts.
  •  Other negotiable benefits include:
    •  Exclusive performance rights for the premier performance or for a limited time period.
    • Be listed as the commissioner and/or list a dedication to be included on the program of all subsequent performances.

How Much Does It Cost?

There are multiple factors that determine the price of a commission including genre, duration, ensemble size, skill level, the budget of the commissioner, and the experience of the composer.

The commission fee is negotiable, but to get an idea of some typical rates here is a helpful resource from NewMusicBox.
